RX450 has 262 hp??? wtf???

From www.lexus-int.com:

"The hybrid model features an Atkinson-cycle 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces around 300 hp when combined with the electric motor."

They key word here is "when combined with", I guess.
Just checked, and the engine for 3RX (450h) was listed at 249 PS.

Macdee, thanks for posting these specs. Although I don't understand Janpanese, I can make out some. Fuel consumption changed a little bit from 17.4 km/L to 17.6 km/L. Can you help translate what it says about the fuel type? I can only understand the "unleaded" part. I hope it does not require premium gas as some rumors have indicated.

It is interesting that the right side page is X5 spec.

Yeah… Fuel efficiency improvement is, by all means, zero Oh well… still not too bad for a 2000+ kg machinery…

For the fuel type, it states the "Unleaded premium gasoline" ( 無鉛プレミアムガソリン ). I checked and it's the same as listed for 3RX models. So no change here it seems.

Also, found more images. Enjoy! (BTW, anyone can figure out the dynamics by looking at torque graph? It looks quite a bit different from 3RX…)

Thanks for sharing this!

Rough translation of the RX450h page using my limited japanese and chinese reading abilities:

e-n-shi-n highest output (engine highest output)
258.8 hp/6,000r.p.m
e-n-shi-n biggest toruku (engine biggest torque)
247 ft lbs/4,600r.p.m
mo-o-da-a highest output (motor highest output)
Front: 165.0 hp Rear: 67.0 hp
mo-o-da-a biggest toruku (motor biggest torque)
Front: 247 ft lbs Rear: 102.5
shi-su-te-mu highest output (system highest output)
312.5 HP (up from 295hp!)

Once again no combined toruku numbaaa~

Also 'new' engine model has been outed as 2GR-FXS and they have added a (S)wirl intake.

It keeps coming…

The picture above is the Lexus-first real cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and real cross-traffic auto breaking (RCTAB) systems. When you drive back out of the parking lot, it senses the traffic and alerts (in side mirror and with a buzzer) when there are approaching cars. Also automatically operates breaks in case of danger. Installed by default on L, maker option on Sport and base.

Bottom one is very cool as well. Adaptive high-beam system AHS.
Improved from LS shutter-type AHS, the "LED point-dimming type AHS" is used. Consisting of 11 LED chips on each side, can control where the lighting goes and where it doesn't (using camera) (maker option for all models - btw, the price is around $400 for Japan).
Definitely getting this one.

It's a shame that even the RX200t is still getting a 6AT. The US-spec'd RX350 F-Sport proved that Aisin already has a 8AT that works with Lexus's transversely mounted engines so why is Lexus insisting on cheaping out on a key component like this when the competition has all long moved on to better transmissions?

So I take it you hold your hand in front of the Lexus badge and the rear hatch opens? A take on the Escape foot under the bumper opener.

I don't think this been mentioned anywhere before.
