Default LED Turn Signals

Hi all!

Tried searching prior to posting, but did not have luck.

I have seen a few videos on YouTube where people have swapped their halogen turn signals for LED turn signals in this gen RX. However, the videos are extremely short and provide almost no explanation. I have not done this on any of my previous cars, but I looked into doing it, so I am familiar as to what is needed.

I am not comfortable splicing into any of my wires, so I have found adaptors with resistors pre-built into the wiring:

Here Here

& here & here

Has anyone installed anything like this and had any success? Reviews are mixed (although one has more 4+ stars). I am also unsure/wondering if installing in these in the front alone will allow me to change all LED turn signals to prevent hyperflash.

Guidance/assistance is greatly appreciated

Those adapters will work but beware the resistors get extremely hot I consider them a fire hazard.

hi, have you used them? What was the longevity like?

i planned to place them on something metal, but reviews of certain ones make me question if it’s something I’d actually get. Especially since some of them looked burned…

i wonder if splicing them would result in the same thing. I know resistors will get hot, but I wonder if it’s just safer to splice than to use this.

I've used these exact resistors in other applications, they suck. Inside the casing is a much smaller resistor that's how they cut cost. If you use them they need to be attached to something with a large amount of mass or they will cook themselves.

I’m not trying to hijack the thread, but it’s honestly surprising that the Lexus RX doesn’t come with LED turn signals. Many much less expensive vehicles offer them as standard. It’s disappointing that Lexus chose to cut corners here by using halogen bulbs—it feels like a step backward for a premium brand.

No LED everything is inexcusable but Lexus is not alone I see other new model cars that still use incandescent turn signal bulbs.

I ripped those cruddy load resistors out as soon as I saw the metal they were mounted to going purple. Like LeX2K said, they do get way too hot for what I'd consider "safe". On my older Toyota/Lexus I was able to mod the turn signal relay to accept LED bulbs, but the newer 16+ RX doesn't use a relay anymore, now using the computer so unfortunately that leaves you a little stuck. The bulbs with built-in resistors are junk too. They're expensive and just get too hot and go into safe mode, which causes them to hyperflash

Something like this mounted to the body somewhere should work without going up in flames.
