Default Rear hatch only opens partially

Joining this forum after trading up my 2005 RX330 with 240,000 miles for a new to me 2019 RX 350 with 30,000 kms.

Still learning the new functions but this one has me stumped.

When using the fob to open the rear liftgate the door only opens about 8 inches. I then have to close it using the fob and then when I reopen with the fob it goes all the way up as intended. I’m a little weary of opening and closing it manually due to the resistance.

I did see a post about recalibrating the liftgate from the onboard menu but mine only allows me to adjust the height of the liftgate and does not offer a recalibration option. I did reset the height do a different level and then back to fully open again but the problem persists.

Being a 2019 you may have some factory warranty left, check with the dealer to see if you do have any warranty left.

Johne1...link to video
about how to re-calibrate your rear hatch. You need to turn off the Power Back Door (PBD) in the vehicle settings and turn off the car; manually open (fully) and close the hatch; turn on the car and turn on the Power Back Door (PBD). According to the video performing these steps should fix the problem. If not as JimInTN suggests check in with your dealer for assistance. Good luck.

Hi JimInTN,

Unfortunately it’s out of warranty.
