Default Heated steering wheel question

I removed the panel under the start button and it seems like the car is prewired for hud and heated steering wheel. Would it be a simple button+wheel? Or do you think there would be more involved? Curious if anyone has ever attempted this

I put a 2015 RX350 heated steering wheel in my 2002 Highlander and it is definitely possible and not the hardest job to do. I used the stock clockspring because there were unused pins, but the RX350 makes more use of the pins so you will probably need the heated steering wheel clockspring for our cars.

Ooo interesting! I have to replace my clockspring eventually as my horn doesn't work. And my biggest pet peeve with this car is no heated steering wheel...
Did you replace the entire steering wheel to get it or did you just run an some sort of element through the circumference of the wheel?
Never mind reread your comment sounds like a total replacement.

Default Add heated steering wheel

2014 RX350 Fsport.
Does any one know that if I got a heated steering wheel and switch, if this would be plug and play?
I have come across the prewired illuminated door sill connectors, and the connector is there for the heated windshield switch, but my activation is in my display screen.
One of the few options I'm missing and want is heated steering wheel. If I can get one from a wrecker and it is simple bolt in, I'd like to do it.
Is the steering clock spring pre wired for the heated steering wheel?

You'd need to get the heated steering wheel clockspring and the required connectors to wire it up and make a harness. I put a heated RX steering wheel in my 2002 Highlander and helped someone with putting a heated wheel in their 2014-2019 Highlander. The swap is a little difficult but nothing too crazy.

Thank you MattRX, more involved than I want.
You know your way around these vehicles well, you gave me suggestions on my dash cam install as well.
Thank you.

I would be lying if I said it wasn't a pain, tracking down the connectors, etc was pretty annoying to be honest.

No problem! Glad to help

Hi all that may be interested.
After seeing this thread I decided to give it a shot and buy an F Sport steering wheel off eBay.
I have just finished installing the 2015-2020 RX F Sport steering wheel into my 2015 Lexus RX 450H Luxury GYL25R(2015-2020), which is the base model sold in Australia (I do have panoramic sunroof and HUD options installed, not sure if this makes a difference).
I installed it in the hopes that I would be able to gain the gear shift paddles and the heated steering wheel which the Luxury RX450h lacks.

Good news! It works flawlessly with a simple swap of the steering wheel and addition of the stock heated steering wheel button module.
My model comes with a full blanking plate and the blue connector plugs into a dummy socket. So all I needed to do was unplug the dummy plate and plug in the plate from the F Sport model (I now have a useless 360 camera button, small price to pay).
The steering wheel itself was a simple swap following any guide on YouTube (release airbag latch, unplug connectors on airbag and clock spring, undo centre nut, swap wheel), the same clock spring connectors are used as the clock spring appears to be common across models, but I can see the ECU on the steering wheel is different with an additional internal connector so you want the complete wheel without airbag.

It appears this car is more modular than i expected, the computers seem to have these features built in and enabled, only requiring the switch and the hardware to be installed, the fuse was also already installed. I wonder what else can be swapped out with better parts? Can the 12" display be installed into a car with the 8"? Would this need the ML head unit and/or ML amplifier to be upgraded too? Can the mirrors be upgraded and front cam installed to enable 360 camera? Can anything from the 2020+ model be used like display/head unit (new wiring harness needed I believe), or DSU/LKAS Camera/Pedal/HD radar upgrade for LSS2 for more features and compatibility with Comma Ai?

Would love to hear anyone else’s thoughts/experiences.

I am trying to install the heated wheel on my 2013 RX 350 which seem to come pre-wired for the heated steering option. I've already bought the heated steering wheel and the switch that replaces the currently installed dummy. i already located the pigtail for the clock spring which is now taped and unused. is it now safe to assume after i install the heated clock spring and connect the unused pigtail to the appropriate connector with heated steering wheel already installed it should work? and where is the fuse for the STRG heater of the 3rd gen RX350? i seem to never see any diagram showing it.

cheers.
