I have a 2010 AWD that's been running great. That all of a sudden I notice I high pitch whine sound when accelerating and also when turning the wheel. Any thoughts on what this could be/what I should do? I am NOT handy or well versed in car stuff so I'm at a loss. TIA!
The power steering system in these vehicles is electric, not hydraulic, so that whine may be coming from the electric motor.
Need some more information please:
Is there electric motor(s) that push and pull the wheels or electric motor that generate hydraulic pressure which then is sent to rack and pinion?
In other words no hydraulics vs hydraulic pump is electrical instead of mechanical. Efficiency is achieved by always engaged mechanical hydraulic pump or pressure created when needed.
