Default Auto lights timing question. 2010 RX 450h

I park underground 2 levels below and the lights don't come on until I am almost about to park. Is there a setting where this is almost instant? Most my cars with this feature would turn the lights on when I entered the parking right away. I looked in setup but couldn't find it. Thanks.

You may just need to wipe off the top of your ambient light sensor. It is usually a small dark-colored dome up on top of the dash near the base of the windshield. It can also be mounted on the back of the rear view mirror. Once you find it, wipe it off with a soft damp cloth and see if that resolves your issue.

I can only say that my 2015 has a sensitivity adjustment in the menu. I can't imagine that yours does not. I have had four Lexus cars over the years. All with auto on lights and all have had an adjustment for sensitivity.

I looked for it. I'll check again. Thanks.

Thanks and I'll try that with a damp cloth. I tried with a tissue already. With my other cars it's almost instant. Like the moment I enter a small tunnel or under bridge they come on. Not with this car.

If dust/(something covering the sensor) is an issue, you would be seeing the reverse problem ... lights come on too early.

The sensitivity setting changes how dark it needs to be for the system to react.
It does not change how quickly it actually does react. The Navigation screen
will dim and brightly almost instantly but the outside lights and "green lantern"
dash icon are a bit more deliberate. Wouldn't want them flashing the lights driving
under every stand of trees, right?

Extremely smart thinking. Should have thought of that one. So it brings me back to settings.

True but I need them to come on a bit faster to help me in the basement parking and also to warn cars coming from the opposite direction. However when I start my car in the basement the lights come on right away.

Just realized if the system is extra sensitive then the lights should come on quicker right?

They should. On my 2010 when entering my underground parking garage, right as I pass through the entrance gate, which is on a steep downhill slope, the lights come on. I have never touched the adjustment setting.

Mine changes almost instantly when going into a tunnel or parking garage. They do take a bit to go off once I return to daylight.

You pretty much described my garage. Exactly the same. My lights turn on after I go down one level.

Mine don't even come on in a smaller tunnel where my other cars come on through the same tunnel.
