Default Check BSM SYSTEM

I have a 2013 RX350 and over the past 4 months have gotten the CHECK BSM SYSTEM error message. It shows up randomly while driving and then the BSM does not work. It happened for the 3rd time last week and stayed on for my entire trip from Boston to CT about 2 hrs. The dealership has had the car for 4 days now and get figure it out as no codes were stored. I did take a video and picture of the error message to show the service manager. This happened last Oct also and they couldnt see anything wrong.
I spoke with the service manager today and they are going to take the bumper off and have a look.

has any experienced this error at all? and if so do you have a solution

thx

Default Check BSM System Warning

I drive a 2013 Lexus RX 350. A week ago the ' Check BSM System ' warning showed up on the dash upon starting the car. After driving for a few miles to a location and restarting the warning disappeared. Same thing happened yesterday. I went through the list of trouble shooting options per the manual. None seem to apply atlas on external exam. I have not been ia accident nor do I see any visible marks on the rear fender ( back and both sides ) where someone may have backed up and hit the fender causing the sensor to be misaligned. I have used the lexus for last three years in extreme weather conditions , so i don't believe that to be a reason. The sensors are supposedly covered by the rear bumper ( per dealer ) so I don't believe dirt covering the sensor maybe the issue for the warning indicator to go off. I contacted the dealer who quoted $ 143 to $243 ( if they have to remove the bumper ) for estimate !! Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Techs will use a Techstream laptop to check the "History of Abnormalities" which
may include unusually high or low system voltage and also for unusually high or
low ambient temperatures. Have you replaced the battery after having had low
voltage? Jump started another car or been jumpstarted? Been extra cold up in MI?

Are you still running the original battery? Failing batteries are famous for throwing spurious OBDII codes and dashboard warning messages. As a first step I would check the battery voltage. Anything less than 12.7 volts is borderline.

I have the same issue with my 2013 Lexus RX 350 I posted the same issue on this forum.Trying to figure out what would be the issue. Only have 45K miles on it. I don't believe extreme temp. and dirt is a issue because the sensor is very well covered with the bumper and I have driven the car in extreme cold temp. in the past and never had a issue until now. Please let me know if you find a solution or any suggestions you come across. Thanks

New user here. I have a 2015 Rx350 and have the "check BSm system" warning. i removed the rear bumper cover and inspected the BSm sensors. neither appear to be damaged. also removed the battery cables in attempt to reset the ECU. what is TechStream? do i need a scan tool to reset the BSm system? thanks for any help

TechStream is Toyota's proprietary diagnostics system. I do not know if a scan tool is required for a BSM reset but I would not be surprised if that is indeed the case.

I would have thought the BSM sensors would be positioned near rear wheel but slightly higher. Are you sure they are in the rear bumper? Also can you narrow down which side.
