Go to a body shop. I do not think this has ever been a problem asked about before you raised it. I think a body shop could address the rust without removing the camera. If it did need removal, you may have to remove the inside panel to access what is holding it in place and the wire.
Also, how old is your RX? There is a factory rust warranty. Or was it due to damage. I see you are in Canada, where salt is probably on the roads 9 months a year.....
Hello,
I too have a similar rusting issue that I am still working on. My basic warranty has expired and the dealership will not fix this issue as it was done previously. I was not pleased with this response so I have contacted Lexus Canada. A case has been opened and I am waiting for a response.
I'd suggest you do the same.
UPDATE:
I was contacted by Lexus Canada about the rusty door-handles returning. I have been told that there are non-rusting replacement hardware available. To this end I was also told that since my vehicle is beyond the 4y/80000km warranty Lexus is not obligated to repair this issue. The quote to repair the four passenger door and the lift gate area is $2300-of which I will be responsible for paying $930.
I explained that I'm not too pleased with this due to the first set of rusty door handles were repaired under warranty and less than three years later the issue has returned.
Does anyone have any suggestions for steps moving forward?
Thank you,
Chris
