New Rx350 owner and a quick question
Hello,
Just recently purchased a l-certified 2015 Rx350 base with 33K miles. Enjoying the car!
Today I popped the hood for the first time and I saw something that stood out.
What is that hose and is it supposed to look like that?
It's a metallic hose covered with white powdery substance. Everything else under the hood looks clean with exception of that.
Any feedback would be great!
Thanks in advance.

Take off the engine cover and see where it is connected, or else take a picture and post it and we will take a look.

Detailers have a spray and wipe off to make the hose(s) look shiny and black. If I recall the name, I will update my post. Aero ## something like that.

When I had my 13 RX350 (from new), the hose turned white too. Not an issue.

Salim: I think what he was asking is, if that shine product is used to clean the hose, it shouldn't turn the hose white. I'm kinda confused as well. The car is only 3 years old and all other hoses look fairly new. Why is my upper radiator hose look so old and faded as shown in the picture? If all other 2015 Rx 350s upper radiator hoses look like that then I'm fine. If my dealer tried to clean the hose with a shine product, perhaps it should be look like my other hoses, clean and shiny!
Thanks for all your help!

my guess is that when they CPO'ed it, they most likely washed the engine bay, and the soap may have just reacted or left a residue on that particular hose.
I think it's mainly cosmetic, try just wiping it with a wet (water) cloth.

I have also seen talk like substance used for storage of rubber seals. So dont assume the white coating is bad.
When the hose goes bad, you will see crass, bulges and it would develop a soft spot or becomes hard like a rock. Rest is all cosmetic.

Found this on another forum:
"There is nothing out of the ordinary about that, its a powder type residue that is on the hose. It will not cause any harm. Hit it with some armor all or some pledge and it wont get like that again for another 10 years or so lol. The hoses come with this white powdery coating on them, you will find something similar on the inside of your tires when they are new. NOT TO WORRY."
Again, not my statement, take it for what it's worth.....
