Interior Lights -- Auto OFF?

Default Interior Lights -- Auto OFF?

I am enjoying my 2012 RX350 that I recently purchased from a friend. However, the other day I accidentally left the right rear pax door slightly ajar and the next day, the battery (OEM) was way too low to start the car. A slow overnight charge brought the battery back to life and all appears well. I am mystified as to why there is no "Auto-OFF" function that would automatically turn OFF the interior light (after say 20 seconds?) in the event of a inadvertent open door. Am I missing something here? Perhaps a light system switch or programming adjustment? Thanks!

I'm not sure what's going on. I'd frequently forget and leave a reading light on when I had my 2013 RX (and now my Highlander) and it would always turn off after 15 minutes or so, saving the battery.

Yep, I have left the interior light (s) on in my 2013 RX and they also shut off. If I remember, the was an informational msg on the dash display as well telling me the battery save mode had activated..Saved my NEW Lexus Battery!

Must be a different sensor when you leave the door open vs. just leaving a light on. By the way the battery save feature annoyingly turns off the radio way to early in my opinion.

My kids had turned the tiny, overhead reading light(s) on in the back seat before and they stayed in ALL night even in the locked vehicle. (2011 RX350).
Irritating.

If you replace them with LEDs then not much worry on leaving them on. With the very little current draw, it is not going to hurt your RX.

2013+ has an auto-off everything feature. 2012 does not.
