Question Was my 450H used to tow a trailer?

I became the proud owner of an 2010 RX450H today! It comes equipped with the towing package and looking at the owner's maintenance log, it looks like a number of maintenance items (such as 'tighten nuts and bolts on chasis', 'replace transfer case oil', 'replace rear differential oil'...), needed if the car was towing a trailer were performed.

I am concerned that its mechanical components would have more than normal wear and tear and my car a reduced life span if it as towing..

Is there a way to know if my car was towing trailers in its earlier life?

That the extra maintenance was done does not mean that a trailer was towed. See your maintenance manual which you can also view at http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do...0RX350450h.pdf Some people follow the severe service schedule regardless if it is necessary and some car dealers encourage always following the severe service schedule.

Installing a trailer hitch receiver often requires cutting trim panels under the rear. The following thread shows some of this on an RX450h: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...itch-450h.html

Trailer towing doesn't necessarily damage a vehicle. I've towed with most of the vehicles I've owned for the past 50 years including a little Mercedes two seat convertible and I know that some of those vehicles had very long lives after I passed them on to others.

I doubt that a person would remove a trailer hitch and trailer wiring harness unless he was going to buy an identical vehicle. People who have bought my used vehicles have sometimes appreciated that the vehicles were all set up to tow or carry hitch mounted bike racks.

Don't be concerned SK. Kansas (above) is correct. Simple towing within the spec'd limits will not harm the car. Enjoy your RX.

Thank you! I love how luxurious my car is. Its already run about 90K miles but runs as new. I hope I get another 90K out of it! :-D

No worries.

I have a 2013 RX450H. Less miles though, at 35k.

Love it. Probably will keep it for a long time.

All the things you have listed would be normal maintenance items for a car with 90k on it.

As already stated, as long as the towing limits were not exceeded you shouldn't have a problem. I have towed my boat with my '13 450h without any problems, although the electric only in reverse does mean you have to be careful to not put yourself into a situation where you have to backup a hill with a load attached.

My experience the same. I did the same maintenance items as the OP mentioned without towing once. (Referring to my Gen 1 RX)

Maintenance costs money and extra maintenance makes even more money!

Does your vehicle have a towing hitch? Is there a towing wire plug?
If neither is present, chances are, your vehicle never towed anything in its entire life.
