Default Auto Dimming Side Mirrors do not dim effectively

Hello,
I have a 2013 Lexus RX350 with auto dimming mirrors. However when driving at night the driver side mirror does not dim when hit with lights of vehicles behind / next lane. The indicator on the rear view mirror is lit green indicating it is on. I also have a 2014 rx330 with the same feature and they work great. I have asked the dealer to look at this couple of times and there answer was it is working as it is supposed to. However I am not convinced, especially when i compare the smae feature to my older rx330. Any suggestions how i can troubleshoot ? Thank you

I notice this too actually, even on my GS I feel there is a difference when I compare it to my other two non-Lexus cars. Even if I go back and remember when my father had an 06 400h, it worked better than my two models. I think it's just the way Lexus does their auto-dimming mirrors. Perhaps other members can chime and say how accurate, or wrong I am on this :P

same here. My 01 RX dims much better at 251k miles.

Two possibilities. They used cheaper parts. Or, the lawyers said "doyoda San, you are dimming too much. We must encourage piece and harmony in the land of laziness and sue for no reason whatsoever the calmness of turning their heads to actually check out what is in their blind spot. Ku da Sai. "

"Ah so des ka". Hai. Make it so. And while you are at it, let's pay off all this rediculous lawsuits even when we had nothing to do with these unintended acceleration events."

I have no problems with my side mirrors anti-glare function. I had a Camry before with the same interior anti-glare mirror but didn't include the side mirrors and I can really notice the difference. It's one of those must have features now for me. One thing I noticed in the manual, while the anti-glare on the interior mirror appears to be a standard feature, anti-glare on the side mirrors is referred as "if equipped". So I guess that means having the little green light is no guarantee that feature extends to the side mirrors. Also, there are sensors on both the face and backside of the mirror. Having some kind of phone, gps, or dashcam mount behind the mirror might also affect the anti-glare feature.

They worked great for me on my 13 RX but not that great on my 15 GS.

some update: I've been reading some other automotive forums. people say that you can partially cover up the sensor facing the front windshield to trick the system to think it's very dark outside. this should dim the mirror more than your current setting.
