it's been a while since someone asked, so hopefully this forum has gotten smarter over the years.Funny but i recently noticed these slots in the visor( if truth be told, my wife brought it to my attention in her 3Rx) and couldn't find any good explanation either here or the Owner's Manual.

 

My best understanding is ... this is a port to allow air escape to eliminate standing waves inside the cover of the visor.

Beyond that, folks have been riding other uses of the slots ... parking meter card, hotel card keys etc.

The slots are nothing more than discussion generators! Let creativity and functionality dictate how you use them for yourself.
