Default Rear view mirror - what does this do?

It may be a silly question, I noticed a camera look like object behind the rear view mirror of a 2010 RX350 . We looked in the manual, it shows this object there in pictures but no description to find out what it's function is? Any clues ?
Thanks

I believe it's the camera for the automatic high beam system.

And it works quite well too. Very few mistakes. I do shut them off in the city because it does have a tendency to flash the headlights such as going around a residential corner thats just a bit darker, just to avoid high beaming someone's living room. Outside of the city, the only time I remember it going a little loopy is this one road that had a series of very reflective signs positioned perfectly. The high beams would light them up really bright, then shut down because the signs were spaced closely enough to possibly look like an oncoming cars head lights, then the high beams would come back on as the signs were no longer so bright to appear like headlights..

What a clunky looking add on. The dash mounted ones in the sixties looked better. 😂

Actually, I have been driving this RX on and off for last 4 months and have not noticed it. It is well hidden behind the mirror. Haha .. took me 4 months to see it there.

Oh, and one thing that's not in the manual, it sends everything it sees back to the NSA for "vehicle diagostic studies".

2011 Lexus 450h I see a camera but have never found a display. The camera is pointed forward.

Default What is the camera thingy and how to use it?

I bought a RX 350 recently and noticed a camera looking thing in the front of rear view camera. Anyone knows what's it and how to use it? Thanks a lot!
