Default Connectig my iPod

I just got my first Lexus and am very excited. I am just learning about the new features but there is one that I am having a hard time with and the manual really doesn't guide me. I connected my phone - no problem. I then tried to connect my iPod but the system is not letting me. The Ipod bar is in grey and I cannot click into it to link my iPod. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem with mine and it turned out I didn't have the latest software on my Ipod.

There is a page buried in the owner's manual listing the Ipod versions supported.

Just a thought.

OP, a couple things will perhaps help us help you. What is your RX model year? Do you have a 350 or 450h (I doubt that will make a difference)? Do you have Mark Levinson or not? What kind of iPod are you trying? When you say "connected" are you trying to stream the music or have you connected your iPod via the 30-pin adapter (or have you added-in a Lighthing adapter to perhaps use one of the newer iPods?)

To JimmyMagic's point, if you have a 2013, look at p589 of THIS for supported models.

FWIW, I have an iPod Classic hardwired via the 30-pin adapter into my 2013 RX450h and it works great. I can also stream from my iPhone5 or listen to it's music hardwired with a 30-pin/Lightning adapter.

Welcome to Club Lexus, moralna.

At your Lexus dealership there is an individual with the title of Lexus Technology Specialist. Seek out that person and arrange for a meet and greet to discuss your problem. It is what they are there for and their service and knowledge is free of charge.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I have the iPod Shuffle and so I don't think it is compatible. I am trying to stream my music. I will definitely get in touch with tech specialist to see what he says.

OP, congratulations on your new RX. You won't be able to "stream" with a Shuffle ... That basic model does not have the connectivity capability you need for any vehicle to see it. See the link I suggested above for the iPods that will work.

Enjoy that RX!

Definitely sounds like it is time to upgrade your MP3 player to a newer model. You will not be disappointed.
