I will put some touch-up paint on it this weekend. Just glad I am touching up the molding and not the door itself. Best money I ever spent.

So I'm thinking if that happen to my black RX, you wouldn't see it, right?

Super easy, just create an account with them. The prices will reflect the discount available to CL members.

Just to add to above: when you create your account, make sure you put in your ClubLexus user ID or whatever they need ... it has been a while since I setup my Sewells account or I could be more specific.

Sewell's price is $96 plus shipping which was $12 for me.

Install directions suggest plus 60 degrees. I thought I'd have to wait 'til spring since I live in MA, but last week we had a plus 50 and sunny day, so I put my stargazer black car outside to soak up the sun and got the moldings on. So far, so good.

The black you are seeing is the molding itself. It's not from the other vehicle.

After spending thousands on the RX what is another $100 and change to protect it - they definitely protect the doors - it only takes 1 door slam and you end up with a door dent which I know first hand can be repaired paintlessly (assuming no paint damage) at the tune of a $100.00. To me this is a no brainer and I have new RX on order and it will definitely have the moulding installed before I take possession.

Good to know that these moldings are helping. IMO, the molding, aesthetically, takes away the clean look of the door. I'll take the risk.

Just ordered from Sewell. After one week already had several marks on the right after my wife parked at the school where she teaches - certainly appeared intentional and she always parks away from the crowd.

Default To install side moldings or not? Need opinions

Hey Everyone,

Just bought a 2010 Lexus RX 350. I am debating whether to install body side mouldings. I have not been able to find a good pic of the side moldings on the obsidian "black" car. What are your opinions on these?

My car (bad quality sorry):

dude, this is a personal preference. the only person that would benefit from this (or not,) is you.
do you want the extra/added protection of side moldings, or not?
its up to you, **** what everyone else thinks about what they look like.

It's going to come down to what you prefer. There is no right or wrong answer. There are lots of opinions here as to the value of the mouldings themselves and the height they are installed at, as well as the esthetics which you are asking about.

In my case -- I have an almost 10-month old Nebula Grey RX450h and a set of brand new color-matched side mouldings still in the box from Sewell sitting in my garage. For some reason, I don't like the pointy ends of the Gen3 moulding -- it looks too feminine or something for my taste. I would have put them on my truck the day it arrived home if the ends had been more squared-off as they were on the Gen2. As it stands, they'll probably go on after my first door ding. Until then, I'm in love with the clean look of having naked door panels.

Good luck with your decision!
