Default Body Side Moldings (merged threads)

Help - we are about to purchase a 2010 RX 350. Brand new to Lexus and live in a big city. Can anyone out there tell us if body side moldings come standard or are extra? Also, do you like them or not?

When I was shopping for a 450, I thought "man, these cars are bland without moldings". Now I think, "no so bad, I like that minimalist look and way easier to wax". It does have that chrome-like strip at the bottom of the door with the word Hybrid on it which I really like.

If they help prevent door dings, it may be something you want.

We purchased a full molding package (extra charge)
We wanted the body side moldings as protection. The package included full side moldings, door edge moldings, wheel well edge molding, and moldings on the front and rear bumper. We love the look and live in N.Y. as well and highly recommend the added protection.
Will post some pictures for you to see later today.

The door molding is extra and costs around $600 at my dealer. I'm actually looking forward to no molding since it'll be easier to clean and wax like DunWkg said. It traps dirt.

Default Cargo Tray

Thanks for all of the advice. You guys are great. Do you think the Cargo Tray is worth extra? I assume this is not part of a standard package.

The accessory package dealers add on around here for around $300 will include all weather floor and cargo mats, cargo net, and I think wheel locks. It's worth it.

I got black rubber door edge protectors at WalMart, of all places. $6 for 2 sets, which was enough to do all four doors. Minimalist, yet it protects the edge of the door from chips.

Make sure your dealer or you purchase right side moldings which match your RX's color. Since they're not Lexus genuine items, those colors somtimes are slightly different from Lexus'.

Is that the same molding from earlier genRX? Never seen the bumper ones, but the side moldings look close to the same as previous RX models.

Happy New Year almost!

Yes they are the same.
I was hesitant regarding the bumper moldings due to the redesign of the 2010.
Once I saw it I really liked it.

Same here, Happy New Year to all!

Thanks Joe,

I was considering the side molding also but was not sure. Could you please take a picture of the side view of the whole car?

TIA

i understand the reason for installing body moulding, and considering where some of us park, it is mandatory to prevent dents, bumps and scrapes.

i'm not a huge fan of body moulding, so i won't be doing this. but props to you joe for doing this mod and sharing pics
