2010 to 2013 Navigation Graphics Changes?
Quick question as haven't been able to find this answer in previous threads.
I have a 2010 RX 450h with generation 6 navigation, the data is a bit old from that year. I got drove home from my service appointment today in a 2013 RX 450h with generation 7 navigation I believe. Of course it has more updated data, but I also noticed the graphics were improved a little, more colorful, and things like the directional indicator were nicer, etc?
Would the upgrade I can do for generation 6 (USB upgrade at dealer) take mine up to those improved graphics, or is that just a product of the newer generation? Seems like the hardware is mostly the same...
Thanks in advance.

"Look and feel" of the Nav relates to the Generation. 2010-2012 RX are Gen 6, 2013 is Gen 7. Gen 7 has some redone graphics as you noticed and I agree it is an improvement -- not monumental, but better just the same. Unfortunately, one cannot upgrade one generation Nav to another, so the look and feel you have with your Nav remains. FYI the head unit that controls the Infotainment systems in the 2013 is different than previous MYs -- it's why, for example, things like Lexus Enform Apps are also only available on 2013+, and cannot be installed in previous MYs.
Updating the maps changes the map contents, not the "look and feel" of the Nav itself. THIS WEBSITE has more info on what a particular map update provides. Note that new versions of the map database tend to come out each Fall, so we're on the cusp of when a new iteration should become available.
