Default RX Gas Gauge Accuracy

On my 2011 RX350, I noticed that when my gas gauge shows half tank, it really means only 1/3 tank is left. For example, if my driving habit yields a range of 300 miles per tank, when the gauge is at half way point, I have driven 200 miles and have approximately 100 miles to empty. This used to be how gas gauges worked on many other vehicles but I would think the advanced 3rd gen RXs have solved this problem but apparently not.....

All of the vehicles I owned worked this way.
However, I did drive an old VW that had markings in L next to the gauge. I thought it was convenient to have something accurate and measurable in units.

@rxsuperman, since we have the same 2011, don't you find it annoying too that the gauge from Full ( mostly above the F) to the 3/4 mark seems to take FOREVER?

Then we you get to the halfway mark, it seems the car suddenly became a vampire. LOL!

I agree. It's the same for most vehicles. I don't even look at the fuel gauge, I just keep an eye on the cruising range.

No fuel gauge will be 100%. You can't have a perfectly shaped gas tank and a level under the car.

Typically, there are at least 2 fuel level sensors and the ECU uses injector duty cycle to increase accuracy of the gauge. They can certainly compensate for multiple factors, just like they do for the remaining cruising range. There is no reason for it to be non-linear, other than that's how it always worked.
