I am curious as to what you have found about the LS gas gauge linearity. I have had my COP 2011 for two months and had really not tried to figure out a trend. Yesterday, I filled up when the gauge was showing exactly half and it took 11.11 gallons - essentially exactly correct.

Previous Detroit cars that I have owned have been all over the map. My wife's 2003 Grand Marquis stays on full for a long time, then drops like a rock. When I first took it for a road trip I was certain something was wrong with the engine, but when I filled it up I caught onto what was happening.

Anyway, just curious. I drive by the remaining miles most of the time anyway, but with all the precision that Lexus puts into the cars I would not be surprised to see that the gauge tracks almost perfectly.

 

Yes, I found it to be very accurate. The only thing I don't care for is the increments on the gauge.

 

I noticed that when my gauge displays absolutely empty tank, computer still says I can drive 70-80 KM (50 miles). Could anyone confirm this is true? I'm too afraid to find out

 

I learned my lesson about driving with the gauge near empty years ago. I was in west Colorado when I-70 was still under construction. I ignored signs about "last gas for xx miles" and got onto I-70. What followed were many delays, traffic stoppage, etc., with the result that I ended up with the AC off and doing everything possible to conserve gas. When I finally filled up at the end of the construction, I had less than a gallon left.
