Well, after about 40k my scorpions were shot. Got stuck on flat ground last winter when the tires had fairly new tread. Been scared ever since. When the time came, I decided to go with something a little more aggressive. Decided to go with the new Falken tire. The Wildpeak AT Trail. It was developed for the new Rav4 TRD. I've had them on for about a week now. I am impressed with their road manners. Especially for such a more aggressive tread design. No appreciable road noise, nice handling, and a smooth ride. More comfortable than the scorpions. They do feature the 3-peak snow flake symbol so I am hoping to not get stuck this winter. I will update on their performance after I get some more miles on them. I do seem to have noticed about a 1.5 mpg decrease compared to the lrr scorpions.

Default Michelin XLT at Costco?

Costco is having a $150 off sale on Michelin XLT which I've never heard of before. Costco agent said it's branded exclusively for them. Reading from Google gives it a more "truck like" tire. Anyone with experience with this tire?

This is the most substantive review I have found about this tire. The tread pattern looks remarkably "un-smooth riding" if I have to make a guess. Too truck like as long as I am guessing?

I have had my Premier LTX's on my 2013 RX 350 for over 40K miles now. I have no complaints about the ride, or noise, or handling. They did seem to be wearing down though, so I went to one dealer who said I needed to replace them, that they were below limits on two of them. I then went to another dealer who said they were fine, and one or two sixteenths above the replacement threshold. I know I will want to replace them before I hit the warranty mileage, but I have no complaints other than their wearing out too soon.

I put a set of Pirelle Scorpion Verde all season on my 2013 RX350 AWD in August 2016. I have a little over 58k miles on them now. Other than them being a bit noisy, I don't have any complaints. Any suggestions on a tire to replace them before the snow flies? I live in Central PA now, but may be moving back to Colorado or Wyoming before I will need to replace them again. I am most concerned with traction, longevity and mileage. Less noise is a bonus, but you can't have everything. I am looking at $200/tire installed (or less - still have 2 kids in college).

I still believe that the best bang-for-the-buck all-season SUV tire is the General Altimax RT43. I put a set of them on my 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R in December 2016 and still love their performance today. Great in snow, they never hydroplane, they have remained quiet, and they carry a 65,000-mile treadwear warranty from Discount Tire. I will install a set on my wife's 2015 RX350 when the mediocre-but-new Kumho Solus KL21 tires the vehicle came with when we purchased it nearly a year ago wear out.

I also have a set of Pirelli Scorpions and they have been great. I have a great tire dealer and trust him.

My 2013 RX450h had Michelin Premiers put on at about 60,000 miles, now at 83,000 Lexus says I am at 5/32 already and should be replacing them for decent traction on snow. That is only 23,000 miles on tires warranted for 60,000. I am a slow accelerator and like to maximize mileage so no quick starts and stops. I am disappointed in the Premiers and will likely try Michelin Defenders next.

Keep in mind, due to the nature of its design, Michelin Premier LTX does not have a big tread depth to begin with.
Are you at the wear marks already? At 5/32 doesn't sound like you are.
I believe 2/32 is when the tire is considered worn.

Yes, 2/32 is usually considered the replacement depth. But most tires will be hydroplaning in heavy rain with only 2/32 of tread remaining. I typically replace all of our tires before they get down to 3/32 of tread remaining. Much safer that way, and my local Discount Tire store has never failed to honor the remaining treadwear warranty. Like me, they put safety first. And that is why I go nowhere else for my tire needs.

I have put two sets of Michelin premiers on my 2010 and the second set is at 40000 now and still plenty of tread life.

See my post about the Falken Wildpeak AT Trail. Or, my wife has Yokohama Geolander AT GO15 on her car. Both are 3 peak snow rated for what it's worth. Both are quiet tires and have good warranties. Neither of those should leave you wanting for traction. I've gotten a couple thousand miles on the Falkens ans theyve been great thus far.

O/ E: Michelin Latitude
tires: 235/ 60R18
Miles: 42K

Light use of my 2012 RX, in NYC suburban area, and now front tires are basically shot....I traveled in this car about 22,000 miles in past 4 years, and like the current ride of the O/E tires............Stopped in at my local Town Fair store, they have special deals from time to time on tires returned within 30 days of purchase....and they just left a message on my phone voicemail, saying they've located Crosswind 4x4, and can sell at $62 apiece.....Anyone know of Crosswind 4x4 tires? Not reviewed by Consumer Reports, for example.....Any responses helpful, asap. I could always wait for another special offer at Town Fair, or a Mich sale at local Costco.....but price here is attractive .......

Many thx !!

Never heard of the Crosswind brand. Just make certain they are not cheap Chinese junk. Lousy tires can be dangerous even when new.
