Default Missing oil mystery

I have a 2010 RX350 with 32k miles. I recently took it to the dealership for tire rotation and oil change. The service manager told me no oil change was needed and reset the oil change indicatior light. A week later during a road trip the low oil pressure message warning sound and message came on when stopping. I took the car to a toyota dealer as no lexus dealer was nearby. They found the car had only 1.5 quarts of oil. They checked the car and ran diagnostics but found no leaks or mechanical problems. They did a complete oil change. I'm home now and checked the oil this morning. It now appears to be 2 quarts low. It does not appear to be burning oil and is not leaking oil onto the ground. I took it to the lexus dealrship and am waiting for word from them. Anyone ever have a problem like this?

That does sound odd but why would you take it for service at 32,000 miles? That's not a 'scheduled' maintenance mileage. And was the oil changed at the 30,000 mile maintenance and do your have the R/O for that? Was it a Lexus or Toyota dealer so you know that the 0w20w oil was used? If it was a heavier oil then the engine isn't designed for it. Is there oil film in the tale pipe? Just questions coming to mind.

Sounds like you discovered this too late. After running it on 1.5 qts for that long I'm sure the engine is trash. It is odd after having just been to the dealership that the oil is that low, smells fishy to me.

You might have a very slow leak at the oil drain plug which does not drip into the garage floor. Maybe it needs a new washer.

...I remember that same thing happening to me on a Ford Galaxy 1973..oh what a big car!!!....a whole family of six could have lived there very confortably...I got rid of the car with 25k miles and nobody (not even the dealer) could figure why I was loosing 2 -3 qts of oil in a matter of days...
But I still love those big babies!!!!

If engine is buring oil, you should see some "blue" smoke coming out from exhaust pipe. Do you check leak around fiter area? Or do you trust dealer?

Couple questions:

1. Can you confirm that you pushed the dipstick all the way down before pulling out to measure?
2. If yes to above, can you measure your dipstick and let us know the dipstick length?
