I apologize if this has been asked before, but a cursory search did not yield any real results.
I was wondering what people paid to have a clear bra installed on their RX 350's. I was looking to have my front and rear bumpers, half of my hood, front fenders, covered with 3M material. I was quoted approx. 850 by a skilled installer. Is this a fair price?
I went through the dealer and paid more for 3M with lifetime replacement warranty and a few extra pieces. I think the place my dealer uses is in Stanhope, NJ. I have his card somewhere. It would probably have been cheaper to go directly through him. Oh well, next time.
Prices can vary greatly by location, quality of installer, and film used. The price you were quoted isnt too bad. Not sure why you are doing the rear bumper though. Not a area to really be concerned with. headlights and mirrors are a must though.
Kitlz, 3M doesnt make a film with a lifetime warranty. So I would check into that. 5 years is the max they have on both films they offer.
3M on the rear bumper is useless, if someone bumps you while parking, you will still see the dent.
The damage back there is usually self-inflicted in my case. Loading groceries, tailgating, or washing rear window. A paint protective film might help me.

This makes sense. Being more careful or using a blanket when tailgating would as well. The guys who did our C70 added some by the trunk opening for free
$250 or less for the complete set of 3M Scotchgard pcs for Gen 3 RX on eBay. I am going to try to find somebody professional to install it when I receive it... Some of it, the 8 small pieces, I know I could do myself. The 2 large pieces are more difficult to get placed correctly and I would rahter have somebody do those...

My installer said the Scotchgard will turn orange overtime and that is why they only use VentureShield by 3M.
I had Xpel installed on my '12 RX 350 two weeks after taking delivery. To do the hood (not quite 2/3), fenders, mirrors, bumper and headlights was $996.50. Prior to the install I could already see some small nicks on the bumper. A bit pricey, but I think well worth it in the long run. I have 3M on my IS (cost was $800) and between the two products, so far I think the Xpel is more durable. In an earlier thread someone mentioned that the 3M has some noticeable "orange peel" on certain colors. Definitely is noticeable on my IS but it's Obsidian and the RX is Tungsten Pearl.
The dealer where we purchased our 2012 RX 350 charges $1195. and it's marked on the sticker of the car. I know, way too much. The salesperson that showed us the car said it was on the particular vehicle we were looking at. So we go back the next day to buy the car, do so after negotiating a very acceptable discount to us, go to pick up the car, and there is no 3M Invisi-shield on the car. So we stop the purchase of the vehicle and complain about the oversight.
The next day there's a new salesperson we're dealing with because the first lady couldn't come in that day. They start to say we have to have to pay for it; we tell them to keep the car in that case. It never got nasty at all; they agreed to to do a complete job - bumper, lights, mirrors, hood, door sills and it worked out well. They also tried to charge a $150. document handling fee that I objected to and they removed. That one got a little more heated but they eventually took it off.
