I don't have a preference on the 2012 or 2013's, but I think if I wait for the 2013's to be released I can probably get a better deal on a 2012. I would prefer a base with no options, but it seems that almost all of them have the premium package + other options added. What is considered a good deal on a new 2012 RX350? Dealership offered me $2k under msrp and from my research, that's still $500 over what the avg people are paying for their new RX350. Do you think I can haggle it down to $4k under msrp?

You can always try. It will depend on how many are sitting on the lot when the 13's arrive.

You'll definitely have more bargaining power when ther 2013 are released.
how long do you intend to keep the RX 350? 5 years? 7 years?
the reason i'm asking is that you'll be better off getting some features.. like the comfort/premium package to help you on the resale value.

Unlike toyotas.. most people who buy Lexus like the added features.

i got my 2011 RX two months before the 2012 were released.. and $2500 below the MSRP

In the US it will be nearly impossible to find a "base RX" without at least the premium package unless it has been special ordered. I had 3 dealers confirm that. In other words, leather interior trim is essentially the norm you should expect. Packages above that are where you'll find the variation.

Lexus seems to have a interesting strategy this time around.

From what I am hearing, and have researched is bc of the declining dollar etc Lexus is holding a hard stance on keeping the value of their RX's around MSRP.

Rather than greatly increase the price of their RX to absorb the costs of the upgrades, they rather just keep the increase minor across the base and options, and just increase the invoice sold to the dealer and reduce the dealer incentives. Now buying the 2013 RX close to MSRP isn't that big of a deal, because your getting x, y and z which the 2012 didn't have.

Feb of 2012, they raised the invoice price (around 1.5 k) on the 2012 Lexus RX despite knowing that the 2013 will be out soon. From what I am hearing Lexus will make a strong push to sell the new 2013 close to MSRP, while allowing the 2012 RX's to be sold for a few K off of MSRP.

This will create the price difference needed between the two vehicles to get rid of the remaining 2012's.

Now of course if the market is flooded with RX's much like it was back in 2010, they would have no choice but to add more discounts, but they did smartly decrease the number of RX's produced which in most markets could really help in the supply and demand compartment for Lexus.

For example even with the release of the RX 2013 coming next month, Lexus is keeping to their new invoice prices (Feb 2012), and isn't giving much discount on any of their 2012 RX's.

Great deals were happening prior to the invoice increase and now the deals seemed to have decreased as the vehicles brought by the dealer prior to Feb 2012 are removed from the market.

Things are getting interesting, and I have no clue what price Lexus will offer their 2012 and 2013 for, but as of right now, it looks as if Lexus isn't panicking to get their 2012 off the lot, like they did in prior years like when the 2010's were coming out.

When the 2010s came out, cutting prices on new cars was a sign of the times. 2009 was an absolutely horrible year for the economy. The stock market dipped so low nobody I know dared look at their account balances. There were dealers in Dallas selling brand new Ford F150 pickups with AC for $9995 that now sell for >$15k. It was a financial panic. It was not confined to Lexus. Ford, Chrysler and GM dumped car lines, and disheartened dealers gave away cars like Saturns. It was as close to the Great depression as we are likely to see in our lifetimes. So it is not surprising that you could get a good deal on a new Lexus back then. That certainly was not a normal time.

I just purchased a new RX 350 2012..personally I am happy with the 12 I saw the 13 and I dont care much for the front and the dissapearance of the wood in the steering whell...but it is only an opinion. While at the finance guy he tried to sell me tire insurance and to be honest I wanted to get out of there asap and di not pay full attention...do the RX 350 have "run flat" tires like the Sienna had in 2008?....thanks for the help

Congrats on your new purchase. No, RXs don't have run flats. You'll see you have a spare in the "trunk".

When was the last time lexus raised the invoice price around 1500 k on the prev. Year model, 3 months before the new model yr hit the show room floor.

..for the welcoming to the club I will pick upi the RXthis coming Monday and it was nce to know that they come wit regular tires,,,,I don't understand trying to sell "ire insurance" for $780....new tires..or tire?.....but then they also try to sell me the "wax job and the material treatment"...er I have leather?...
Anyhow, I can't blame the finace guys to sell stuff we all have to make a living and nowadays is better than holding up someone or the unemployment line...just my .2 cents...

Some of us thought that Lexus dealers would be ABOVE the last minute stealing your dollars crap; I have a good dealer, but he is pulling the same thing....the colored rub strikes..$795...Interior and exterior SEALER $895....so low rent to do that.....it used to be just the scumbag dealers that did that stuff!!
