Default Side View Mirror missing

My wife came out of a store and the mirror of the drivers side mirror was missing (not the housing just the mirror). She looked around and didn't see it laying anywhere and didn't see if fall off while driving, weird...

Called the lexus dealer and they said that in the past month at least 6 others have called about the same thing.

Anyone else experience this outside of Brookfield WI?

Probably just fell off because of some assembly or manufacturing defect. I would check carefully so that it would qualify for warranty replacement.

sounds like someone is stealing the mirror. its really easy to "pop" it out of its place. since this is only in your area, check the craigslist. hope you/others can catch the loser.

It's like a while back(02) with the stoten Acura TL headlights.
Easy to take, good street value. You should call the police and tell them what's going on in your hood.

How about the stolen headlights on the 2nd gen RX? I saw somebody driving one with both missing. I had the sickest feeling in my stomach. Not soon after Lexus sent out a letter to have a bracket installed to thwart theft. You bet your butt I did mine.

Should we start etching our mirrors with some kind of identifiable marking?

Have not heard of that. Sorry to hear about that. I agree we may have to start etching the mirrors with something.

Brew1,

Yikes, sorry to hear about your misfortune! People can be real a-holes sometimes Did the store at least have some variety of surveillance in the parking lot?

$460 seems awfully steep for just the mirror assembly. Consider that lexuspartseast.com sells the same part for $311. I know that's still exorbitant but hey- it IS Lexus after all

I'd definitely shop around on line for a bargain. Good luck with the repairs!

Maybe you're buying back your original mirror

Well I was on a business trip and my Wife and son where driving up the next day to meet up with me and tour a college. So she didn't want to drive 700 miles round trip without the side view mirror otherwise I definitely would have looked around on line instead of going to the local stealer.

Yeah and I guess next time I'll have to buy it from the guy who steals them...

I would hope the police will check surveillance at the store, I told my wife to but she didn't have enough time. It was 1:00 PM and busy at the grocery store and she was only in there to get a salad for lunch..

I'm thinking of getting my concealed carry license now that we can...
