Default 450h steering noise

Has anyone heard a slight grinding sound from time to time with your steering wheel? It sounds like it comes up through the column. Has anyone had the service check it out. Is it normal, or a known issue? Thanks for any info. on it.

i assumed the sound was normal, but since others are not experiencing it, maybe it's an issue

Since it is electric Power steering, at low speeds it needs extra boost and you end up hearing it. Not like you would hear from an old GM product. I don't find the noise annoying, it's not that loud. Only my opinion.

i got that noise from the steering column too last year. took my RXh in to the dealer and they fixed it. it came back after a few days, and had it for awhile (was gonna bring the issue up again with my service advisor on my next service). but it's gone now and hasn't come back (yet). i get that noise only during slow speeds and when turning like jskennedy mentioned.

This is my problem. When I bring it in for a 10,000 oil chg. I'll have them check it. It only is noisy every now and then. It may be a temperature thing?

yeah, i was going to say temperature too in my previous post, but i don't have a reasonable explanation as to why the noise would go away if the temperature is lower?
