At times when im backing out of parking spaces, I can hear my steering system working. I cant really describe the sound, but i can hear it when the radio is off, and when i move slow while turning the wheel. Its an annoying noise. In my mind it is like the linkage is rusted, and it doesnt want to move. Then again, it could just be the sound it makes. If thats the case, why is the steering system so loud. Or am I just being ****. Any input would be appreciated.

 

There is a new Service Campaign on power steering -- if you have certain VINs, they'll replace the unit automatically. It's about increased effort, not noise, but perhaps it is related. Ask your dealer re Special Service Campaign (SSC) 6LE. The VINs affected are these ( 2006 ) models:
