iPhone 4 works as a ipod device?
Does the iphone 4 work like a ipod device in the RX 350? How do I make the connection? USB and AUX cable into the iphone 4 or just USB is enough?

If you want to control your list from your iphone use AUX, if you want to control your iphone thru radio use USB, remember you can play your song using bluetooth audio too.

iphone 4 works fine. Im not sure if this is specific to the iphone 4 or to all bluetooth audio devices, but sometimes it cuts out, and doesnt play anymore and I have to switch audio sources and play with the menus before it works again

Along the same lines, how well is the iPod connector working now to control the iPod via the RX's stereo controls. I thought I had read that early models in the 2010 model years the iPod controls weren't that great. There was some sort of firmware update on the RX's stereo that now makes it work better.
Are people happy with how it works now?

it takes a few seconds to load after scrolling a page which is kind of annoying. The problem in the past is that you couldnt scroll down multiple pages, you had to do it one at a time which was slow. Right now, its still slow but at least you can keep scrolling even before everything loads

I guess that sounds better than nothing. I wonder how this compares to the implementation by other car manufacturers. For example, if I were to compare it with the system in my buddy's BMW, would his work better?

Base system to base system, I think Lexus lags behind. I can't speak to the ML system as I haven't seen one.

ML is nice, compared to the custom system I had in my 330. Good speaker placement and decent bass. Could be better but I can live with it. Now with the iPod, it took Lexus years to finally put it in the RX. It's not the most ideal system with the connection issues and scrolling difficulties. Wonder how it is on the IS. I think that model got it first.
Thanks to David (DunWkg), I'm going to ask about the nav firmware update next month when I bring it in for service since it appears I have the older version compared to '10s built after mine. Apparently this should address the scrolling problem.

I came back the next day to discuss my non-audio issue and I also took the opportunity to discuss iPod scrolling with the district service guy and while extremely helpful, he suggested we were at the mercy of folks in Japan for the firmware/software/hardware fix of iPod scrolling. He felt that since the iPod/iPhone is not the number one selling MP3 device in Japan the fix is not as important in Japan as USA. Although I don't know the iPod sales numbers for sure, but SAY WHAT!
We need to keep hammering on them!

Use the USB connection if you want to control it through the stereo and for better audio quality. The UI is a little clunky, certainly not as elegant as a native iDevice UI. Other than that I've had no scrolling or connection issues.
