^ That is not true. Mine is programmed for the auto open and it will open with the FOB and all the doors locked. In fact when you open the hatch with the FOB it will not unlock the doors, only opens the hatch.

Do you have to wait for the hatch to completely close after pressing the button on the key fob before you can lock the car? Because I've been standing there waiting for the hatch to completely close before pressing the lock door button.

Yes, you have to wait for it to completely close.

Default set up is different

I did a controlled test on driveway this morning.

FOB - Doors locked: Unlock doors on the FOB twice, then open the hatch works. FOB does not open hatch unless the doors are locked.

Hatch Button - Doors locked. One touch on the rectangular button unlocks doors AND opens hatch with one touch.

Hatch Button - Doors unlocked. Round hatch button unlocks the doors as usual.

Update: When inside the car and doors locked, the power hatch button on the dash requires the doors to be unlocked first.

I guess there are different combinations for this set up.

Round button on the hatch will lock the doors, too.

You know, I am not a fan of manually closing and opening the hatch. It gives too much resistance and I feel like it's damaging the mechanism.

Hey guys. Need help. I have a 2010 RX350 and took it to the dealer to program the rear trunk to power open when I press the long button on the trunk. Right now it will unlock it but will not power open. They said it is not possible. They hooked up the scanner to it and said not possible. Can anyone help? This was at Lexus of Orlando

Find another dealer that knows what to do. The option was available beginning on the '11s as one of the Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS). Can't imagine the directions would be different. There are a few of us here with '10s that had it programmed.

Dealers have been doing it on the '10s since '10. How is it possible for Lexus service not to know this? Are NJ Lexus Service Dept. just more up to date??? I know they send them for training often! It makes you question how qualified are some of those service departments.

Out here in Arizona I had no problem, the dealership did not even question my request. I have a 2010.

Default Frustrated in Austin

I asked my dealer Lexus of Austin to program the rear rectangular button to unlock all doors and power up the door on 1st touch. They said power couldn't be controlled from door on 2010 and 2011 models. When I got the car back they programmed it to only unlock the side doors on first touch and unlock rear door on 2nd. arg!

Charlie, press and hold the rectangular button for 2-3 seconds to see if the tail gate will open up. On mine the doors will quickly unlock and then the tail gate opens under power.

Thank you, but still No dice.

Press and hold for 3+ seconds only unlocks all side doors
Press twice unlocks rear door manual lift.

My MFG Date is 04/09. Anyone else confirm similar build date and power lift from gate button?

Called Lexus Customer Care and they in turn called in a technician. They told me it's an option that can only be programmed at the factory. *hand to forehead*

I'm sure I've posted this before, but they were able to do it at Lexus of Tampa Bay over a year-and-half ago for me.

Is this programming (power open) specific to hybrid? Can it be done to a regular RX. Dealer here in Detroit said my 2012 RX350 is not equipped with this option.
