Default power trunk door

So I have the power rear door. The button under the steering wheel opens it auto., the button on the remote opens it auto., are any of the buttons by the rear door camera only used to unlock it or is it suppose to raise the door with the push of a button. I always unlock by pushing the button and then I pull up manually. Is this normal?

The long button on the tail gate only unlocks the door, no power. You have to manually lift it. One of the techs at my dealer programmed it to open under power with a second push. He said it was simple. I couldn't get him to tell me what he did though.

I remember reading in the manual that it's one of the programmable feature at the dealer only..so I doubt it is something you can set on your own..just ask your dealer to change the setting next time you are there for service..

Isn't there a button to the right of the unlock that will lock the whole car too?

Smile I've had the dealer program this for me

I had the dealer program this feature and it works great. You press the trunk unlock button and all of the doors unlock and the trunk lid goes up automatically. It's well worth asking Lexus to do this for you.

that's exactly what I want? It should be like this from the factory, why waste or time? Does dealer charge for the programming?

It has to actually hit something. There are no eyes. It's based on resistance when closing.

As part of your free services, programming is included. But I can't say every dealer will know how. The tech at my dealer said it's a matter of knowing Lexus programming. I wonder what else he could do

It is pretty forceful. Try again, say at mid way closed, hold up against and it should stop. Be prepared to remove your hand in case it doesn't stop. It could be broken!!!

If your not happy with it take it to dealer for repair or adjustment.

very true. i asked my dealer to program the auto power trunk, and he says it can't be done (they don't have any documentation on how to do this). he says if i can get my hands on instructions, he'd do it for me.

Ok for the programming for the trunk done...I didn't see what the technician did but I saw him carry into the cabin a black box. Does anyone know what was done in terms of programming these features?
