Default Customizing rear hatch?

I was just wondering how I can program my rear hatch/power liftgate so that when I touch the button on the hatch, near the camera, it will open automatically.
The dealer is charging me $67 for this! Is there any guide to do this at all?
They said its not in the vehicle settings so they have to do it.
Honestly it makes no sense because all other cars have it standard for when you touch the button, the hatch will open, not make you open it. I thought that was the point of an automatic hatch

I don't think it is possible, and no where in the manual had stated this feature the customize setting. I have also ask my Dealer and they said no.

I read somewhere in another thread that the dealer can do that modification for you. But only the dealer. They probably have to hook it up to the computer for that change, that's why the charge. I thought Lexus would make any changes like that for free one time. If you have had them make other changes beforethis, that is why they are charging you. You could always call Lexus.

"The dealer is charging me $67 for this!", this is nonsense. you should call Lexus of Canada and complain about this dealer. its a new vehicle and feature adjustment are part of service to fit the customer.

I agree that it's quite stupid that you need the remote to open the rear hatch automatically! However, I've now gotten used to just lifting the hatch manually and it's actually a lot quicker than waiting for the automatic opener.

I asked my Canadian dealership about this at my first service and I was told that this was not a programmable option...

OK -- my dealer in Ft Wayne swears they can't find the mod in their manuals and have never heard of it. I started to really look around because I had read the same thing MEP7557 had on another thread that is was possible, then I found that the omission is deliberate, to give drivers a non-power option to open the hatch when in areas with low overhead clearance: ie a parking structure. Apparently Caddy has such an option at the level of the remote switch.

Well, that might be a bold lie, but it kind of makes sense, so I'm staying with the factory settings.

And like you AEmgee, I'm used to it already.

I thought about having this mod done but there are times when I need to control the opening of the hatch, tight situations. It's nice that you have the option to manually open it. It's not near as heavy as my 4-Runner hatch and that was not powered at all.

You are right, you can actually open it faster manually.

Wait a minute, I don't have this in my manual. So when you press the back door open button, it will open up automatically?

Just to be clear, there is no way to have the lift gate open, by power, and from the outside, except with the remote?

No it is possible, my dealer has confirmed it and said they will NOT charge me unless it has to be programmed.
Im gonna fight it and make sure they don't charge me.
I have a pdf file that proves it
I uploaded this file, download it and it says this in the rear door area:

"14. Power back door assist
After unlocking all of the doors, and manually pressing the release button
on the rear door, the vehicle can be programmed for the following:
When pressing the release button, the door must be opened
manually. (Standard)
When pressing the release button, the rear door will be assisted
and open automatically."

Default I got it done.

I can open rear lift door by hitting button next to rear camera.
I got it done the first week I brought my RX350 home.
It's in Lexus Personalized settings. Done only be dealer. <~ I watched them because I was the first person who ever asked for this and didn't take NO for an answer.
They will tell you it can't be done.
1) The manual tells you it can be set by dealer.
2) Lexus Personalized Settings(LPS) from lexus drivers website for the Pre 2010 rx350 tells you it can be done.
3) I have it working. Press button and door lifts automatically with power, and hit it again while in motion to go to manual (for tight spots). Hitting the button on the bottom of the door will reverse operation, not switch to manual. <~ spent a couple of mins going back and forth to figure that one out.
I spoke to 3 service advisors and 4 mechanics before the lead tech came out and took care of me.
Hopefully this helps you out and anyone else comeing across this.
If it comes down to it, I will make a video that you could bring to your dealer.
This should be the end all post to the auto rear door question.
