Default 2010 RX350 Interior

I have a 1999 RX300 with about 200K miles and have been thinking about a new car. I never liked the exterior design of the 2nd Generation and now I really like the exterior of the 2010. However, since I keep a car a long time, I can't bring myself to like the interior of the 2010. That swoopy dash design looks like something Chrysler might try. I've had a perfect experience with Lexus and want it to be my next vehicle. However I hope the 2011 includes a complete dash/interior redesign.

Welcome to the forum.

IMHO, it's hard to believe 2010RX will have the complete dash/interior redesign. This model is out in the market for just one year.

Sorry, but I would be amazed if there would be major interior changes. You can see a similar swoping central console in the 2010 prius so I think it's a Toyota Corp trend that's unlikely to change radically in the short term. Fortunately for me, I prefer its look (although I miss some of the old features) to the previous generation.

take it for a test drive, having a full center console is more comfortable on long trips.

i remember looking at the Land Rover LR3 and one of the major turnoffs about it is that it got practically no center console at all.

I initially did not like the dash. After living with it I have come to like it and it's simpleness. Some of the other cars I looked at had way too many buttons and switches and looked overdone. I agree that this is a Toyota trend, look at the new Sienna van.

With any change it takes awhile to get used to it. I don't see Lexus making a radical change to this dash for a couple years.

I think the unique dash design on the RX is something that sets it apart from the competition. It not only fits into the overall L-design language of the car, but it is well designed ergonomically.

It is different, and some people automatically reject it because of that. They prefer the tried and true wood-paneled dashes with the crowded *****. I say, don't reject change for its own sake, embrace it.

I've gotten used to it, but my husband doesn't like it - he feels the buttons are too small for large hands. I'd be surprised if Lexus did a re-design on this as it just came out. I love my 3rd gen, but having the seat heater/cooler dials behind the cup holders is not good...better location would be somewhere near the shifter.

I agree, the location for the climate controlled seats is not good. Plus Im not crazy about the jog dial.

The first time I saw the dash I didn't like it either and actually took it off the list to look at. However, we knew so many people that were on their second or third RX because of a great Lexus experience so we test drove one. After having the RX a few weeks , I decided that I actually really liked the dash layout and I love the mouse controller.
