Default Bad Sensor

Have a 2010 RX350 with around 8K miles on it. Earlier this week, all of a sudden, this warning message came on the dash "Check AWD System" and the skid-control & engine symbol lights were illiuminated. I went right to the dealer. They diagnosed the problem as a bad sensor and had to order it. Job was finally done today. They said the vehicle just ran in 2WD as opposed to AWD as long as that light was lit. I said isn't it unusual for a sensor to go bad this early on such a new vehicle...and a Lexus at that? The guy admitted yes, that is unusual. Just curious if anyone else had this issue?

Hi there,

I had this exact same problem this morning. The engine light and the traction control light are illuminated and it says CHECK AWD SYSTEM. Also, when i put it into gear the rx shakes pretty bad like it is misfiring. Do you know what sensor they changed? The thing that sucks is that it is a long weekend and all the dealers are closed here but I got it towed by calling 1800-26-lexus but they wouldnt cover a courtesy vehcile for me but they will cover any taxi or bus costs which is pretty crappy since I need a car. Anyone else have this problem with their 2010?

The tranny blew on my 2010 RX on a Saturday last October with 2500 miles on the car. I had no problem on a Saturday getting a loner. It's a shame your dealer is closed this Saturday.

This happened to our 2010 today. At Dealer. What was your outcome?

Your situation almost sounds like bad gas and a fouled injector. Let us know what you find out.

Had this problem a year ago but without the shaking and misfiring, the car is still drivable but I didn't take any chances, had it towed to the dealer for free under warranty. Anyway dealer replaced 2 o2 sensors.

Here is the verdict:
TSB L-SB-0033-11
Replace OCV Module per TSB
Replace CAM Oil Control Valve Assembly and Gaskets

We will see...Drives great.
