Smile Quick Review

Hello. I took an RX out for a drive today. Two main thing are:
(1) I don't see the value in the Ultra Premium Package (Canada)
(2) Wow they drive nice! A LOT cushier than my Infiniti, but not "floaty".

From a noobie perspective I wasn't overly impressed with:
1) ML stereo. Maybe it is my ignorance but I thought the 12 speaker system sounded better (louder?)
2) The leather is a bit softer, but not a world apart.
3) Side view didn't really impress.
4) They are a big vehicle! Nice inside though for a big guy (I have always founds all Lexuses small).
5) Thigh extender did nothing for me.

For me it would be Touring or Sport.

I will be checking out other vehicles, but not the GS 350AWD, as my dealer does stock that model.

Good luck finding a Sport Model. I special-ordered one in June (not a single one in the state to test-drive and CA is a BIG state), and it's supposed to be here next month.

Not $7,000.00 above the Touring. Maybe $2,000.00 higher for the Sport

The salesman told me twelve weeks for a Sport or Ultra. Any vehicle with VDIM is made in Japan. He said the Touring is made in Canada and so is much more "gettable".
12 weeks isn't bad at all. Mercedes E-Class sedans are 90 to 120 days if you want to special order.

Yes, I understand that the VDIM package that is part of the Sport trim (standard on the hybrid model) is only made in Japan.

Your salesman is cajoling you. Twelve weeks would be fine. This is more like 20. So that's longer than Mercedes' alleged 90-120 days too.

Annoying.

I am picking up my RX450h tomorrow and it took 6 months for my special order to arrive. However, I ordered it at the end of April and another dealer told me that Lexus wasn't taking any orders until July 15th. So maybe it really only took 3 months if that is true.

Arrow Update

Well I tested out an MB GLK. I think that these look a lot nicer, but wow! The Lexus blows them away in acceleration, cornering and ride quality.
I still think the Lexus looks kind of big and fat, but it drives as nice as an e-class sedan.

I can really see why this model has huge popularity, especially at this price point.
