Default A/C - no button on dash?

Hi all...I just purchased the 2010 with Nav and love the seats!! Much better than the 2nd gen seats. Just wondering why they did not put an A/C button on the dash. It seems every time I want to turn on the A/C I have to go to the screen and do it with the mouse. I know that's a minor nit, but I was wondering if I'm missing something. Thanks!

the a/c should stay on, you shouldn't have to go into the screen with the mouse to turn it on once you've done it once. have you used the fan speed control on the dash to turn it on?

mine stays on once turned on

however, it would be really nice to just hit a button to go to vent(non-a/c) mode w/o having to navigate thru the menus

Couple of reason why there is no Ac button, cost savings and Lexus effort to minimum buttons for a cleaner looking dash.

it only takes a few seconds to do it from remote touch, but yes some shortcut buttons on the dash would have been useful for stuff like:

- 1-6 radio presets
- A/C on/off
- button to switch immediately to Stereo screen
- mute button

Oh my, you are virtually describing the non-navi dash buttons. Could it be that the non-navi dash is better designed?...

When i drove my 350 off the lot that was one of the things I thought.
Where in the world is AC on/off toggle!? Yes, you can only do it through climate control menu on Nav. I think it's lack. Sometimes you just want to keep it off and jumping into Nav is too much work when driving. I used hardly run AC in other cars because I used a front window blow and somehow air was pretty cold and didnt bother me to put on AC.

The new Lexus RX is very innovative on some part. Some people like it some not.
but many people like RX2010 because its dash board is clear without too many buttons. With more and more technology build in a car you will see more and more button if they dont remove some. I am glad to know we didn't lose ability to switch AC off, even then not a big deal to me.

I've turned off the auto A/C (in vehicle set up settings) and put the a/c on under the climate settings icon...I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to get a few things done...will check with them to see if I have it set to how I want it to work.

You can actually press and hold the fan down button for a couple of seconds and it shuts off the A/C as well.

RX with Nav - The most frustrating thing about the AC system is that to turn off the dual AC mode you have to click thru the Nav screen vs. pushing a switch. Pain in the A**!!!
