Default Gen3 RX Headlight Replacement

Hello, i did a search under Gen3 and couldn't get the results I expected. We had a 2008 RX 350 and the headlights were excellent. We 8 months ago purchased a 2015 RX450h and the headlights are minimal. We drive mountain roads that are for the most part black at night. Looking for a direction to find better headlights that what I assume are the factory stock lights. Any help?

Your car has either halogen or hid light system and the bulbs for both degrade substantially over time, replace both high and low beam bulbs with proper wattage for whichever system and you'll see an immediate improvement.

You could phone your Lexus dealer in the area and they can tell which headlight system from the VIN or you could take the car over to Ernies Auto Center in Felton and one of the guy's behind the counter will likely take a look and sell you the bulbs you need, might even change them for you too, usually only takes a couple of minutes each side.

We're from further north but any of the local community Napa auto parts stores are a good bet for light bulbs and wiper blades, the ones with repair bays handle suspension repairs, brakes etc at reasonable price compared to dealer and provide decent quality.

Don't forget the haze that develops on the plastic lens [fading of the clear coat due to sun UV]

^^ Agreed. Sometimes scrubbing the plastic headlamp lens cover is all that is needed. I use SoftScrub with Bleach bathroom cleanser on the lenses two or three times per year. Works for me....

I've had very good luck with both RX's I've owned over the years with Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. It may take several times to get all the yellow out, because it does it gently. If they are really yellow, you may have to go the headlight restore way. Once perfect, I use Ultima Paint Sealer (wipe on and walk away). I may have to do it again in 6 months.
