I found this in my 2015 RX-350, I can't seem to figure out what it's used for... can anyone help?

 

Do you have a banana for size reference?

 

That looks like the piece that attaches to the rear hatch door just below the rear window, and completes the cargo cover when the hatch is closed.

That piece kept getting in the way of the various things my wife hauls around in her 2015 RX350. I removed it and stored it in our attic years ago. Hope I remember to put it back in the vehicle when it comes time to sell it.

 

There is sticker with directions on how to install.

I feel the same way, but it seems the piece is held under tension and not with positive/snap-clip. Just like RX in NC mentioned, the ledge falls off when I overload the hatch. And that happens more times than not as I have to keep the rear passenger footwell empty [450h]
