Default Intermittent Starting Problems -2011 rx350

Hello all,

I recently bought a 2011 Lexus rx350 and the car was great for about 2 months. I’ve been running Into weird starting problems. The car will start for half a second and die. When it dies the battery light, check engine light, steering wheel light and air bag light will come on. I got it towed to the dealership and they verified that fuel pump and all electronics including the 3 ecu’s are functioning. They replaced the battery and negative terminal and it was fine for about a week and now it’s happening again. I got it towed to the dealer a second time and they could not replicate the problem. Theres no pattern sometimes it will start and run great and then I’ll park it and it’ll do the same thing again. I’m pretty mechanically inclined I pulled the air box and ensured the parking neutral safety switch cable was not binding and maf/throttle body was clean. I am absolutely stumped. There’s no engine codes on my obd2 scanner (I do not have the tech source software). And I can’t figure it out. Immobilizer system is also working fine as the security light does not keep flashing when I try to start the car. Car recognizes the key aswell. Please let me know if anyone has ever ran into this issue. The only thing I can think of are the crank position sensors. I’ve attached the video.

You really need to dig into the history. Failing that remove covers and do a thorough visual ... looking for cut/broken wires, evidence of rodent/water intrusion. Also try to find commonality at time of shutdown.

What you posted is practically "normal" ... happens when the engine is killed.

Keep track of idle speed etc.

Go to the Lexus drivers site, join and enter your VIN then you can hunt around for the dealer service history which may help with your current problem.

https://www.lexus.com/My-Lexus/account/create-account

To see the service history at Lexus Drivers do the following:
On the page that lists the car whose VIN you entered there will be a line that states
Vehicle Health Report
Learn More - click this box
Then on the next page it will state
My Service
On the right side it will state Service History
View History - click this box to see the service history
The it will slowly take you to a page you need to scroll down to see the service history
Each entry will be a line, click on the + at the side to see more about each entry
