Call me a redneck I don't care but I like the carpet dash look. lol
FYI,… as the person who posted the picture of the carpet cover, I do have to say it looks far better in the picture than it actually looks on the dashboard. Your mileage may vary however! :-)
Saw a video on YouTube of someone who applied one of those (I think it was YouTube), and it just didn’t fit right.
You talking about the plastic Dash cover, the vinyl one, or the carpet cover. I saw the youtube video on the plastic cover, and it didnt quite fit right,....didnt look too bad however. $200 or so if I recall.
Dash
If You Know anyone that can get You a discount at the Lexus or Toyota dealer, then the cost of the OE Dash is around $800 and a upholstery or trim shop should be able to replace the old dash for about $400 or so labor.
It's all about what you can settle for.
On my RX, it was cracked All over!! And when I put the dash cover on, you could still see the big cracks where the passenger side air bag is, there was a large rectangular cutout in the dash cover there, so any cracks there were still visible. Also it's Very Very difficult to get the Armor All or dash protectant off the old dash, and the adhesive to hold down the new plastic cover won't stick to the old dash. Just saying, a lot to consider.
Hi ch13427,
Do you have the upholstery shop name that did yours in VA? I have a IS250 and had to buy a new Lexus dashboard because the car was purchased after the dashboard replacement warranty period ended.
Called around a few of these shops around here and one quoted 4-5x what you said, and some said they don't do them and referred me to a mechanic. $400 is reasonable compared to what others have quoted. Thanks.

Hi, The upholstery shop I used is in Manassas Va and they don't do that, but they called a tech that could do it for around $600!
Considering that I got a Good deal on the OEM Dash pad, and the $600 installation cost was still less than what the Lexus dealer quoted me for doing it.
This was for an RX330, I do Not know Anything about the installation for other Lexus models.
Good Luck!
