Default Engine temperature sensor RX 330 2008

Guys hello, where is the engine coolant or fan temperature sensor located on the rx400 2008 ?my car started to run very hot to almost overheating at idle when the engine is running like in charging the hybrid battery or in traffic jam.

I don't have the 330 engine so I am not sure of the temperature sensor location in your car. But there are several other things to check before you replace it. Is the coolant level in the engine full? Then, are the cooling fans running, especially when the engine is running hot?

You can connect an OBD code reader to the car, one that reports live engine data, and it will display the engine temperature as reported by the sensor. A good working engine will be in the 200 to 205º range.

Check the radiator for leaks, and of course check the coolant level. Likely you need a new radiator. The radiator cooling fans each have their own controller box, how those are instructed to turn on and off the fans don't know my guess is the hybrid computer does it.

Usually the temp sensor will tell the ECM to turn on the fans when the coolant temperature gets high like 1/2 way on the dash guage, the fans were not engaged at the time the temp went very high to red but the warning light came on for the coolant temperature that’s why I thought that sensor isn’t working properly, I had the same problem with a Honda which I corrected with a new sensor, I thought it was the same problem with the Toyota/Lexus engine. Coolant level were normal and so was oil level.

The RX400 has the 330 engine in it. While saying RX330 is somewhat unorthodox, it tells people which engine he has in his car.
