Default 330: Crappy Vanity Mirrors

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering how many other people here have had problems opening their vanity mirrors on their 330s. The frame on top of it seems to bulge, impeding the opening of the vanity mirrors. It's a pretty annoying little problem since my wife uses the mirrors pretty regularly.

I don't think I've seen this discussed here before, so I just wanted to see if anyone else here has experience the problem and how it was fixed. The service advisor told us that many others have had the same problem and that the parts are on national backorder.

Other than that, I love this car!

Default Mine's busted too!

Mine's totally busted. Waiting for new visor. It must be a common problem.

Mine's not busted yet, but I have noticed the passenger side vibrates with every little bump I drive over.

I don't have a problem opening them but I have noticed that the spring which you would think keeps it closed would have been made to apply pressure to the light lid when it is closed to keep it from vibrating. It is not an annoying problem yet but we have relatively decent roads here. When we first test drove one, she opened it up and immediately thought something was wrong because the spring was strong and it made a crunching noise as it was opened. She asked our dealer if she opened it incorrectly and thought that there may have been a release.

Well, at least I know I am not the only one around here with this problem. I guess I can feel better now!

Oddly enough, right around the same time the problems with our vanity mirror started showing up, our driver's side visor on our IS300 popped off it's mount (the mount itself came off the headliner). Must be the visor gremlins!

Thanks all...

Default Won't stay open

On the passenger's side, which my wife uses, the vanity mirror cover won't stay open. I plan to complain at the next service.

We had this exact problem before our 1000mi checkup - both vanity mirrors binded on the top, and Lexus replaced both under warranty. I thought we were the only ones with this very odd problem. Sounds like there may be a marginality to the design.

Obviously, report this at your next Lexus checkup, I'm sure they'll replace them. We waited about 3 weeks for the mirrors to get in stock.

Regards,
HiTechRX (with new vanity mirrors )
