Default Code p0012 and p0015

I have an 09 rx350. I was driving out of state and just as I hit 160,000 my check I fine light came on. I drove it another 75 miles to my destination at stopped at the closest Advance Auto. It came up with codes p0015 and p0012 exhaust camshaft over retarded and intake camshaft over retarded. The car is driving fine and still very quiet, no knocking or rough driving. Excelleration is also fine.the only issue was last week I had to jump start it after having acc on about 10 minutes. Garage said battery was fine. I’m 250 miles from home and my mechanic. This is something I don’t want some idiot working on at a garage I don’t know. Am I ok to drive this or have fixed immediately?

Hi Pepp,

Plz let us know how it goes and if you got it fixed.

It looks like you may have jumped a tooth on the timing chain maybe from a failed tensioner since both intake and exhaust are retarded at same time but I don't know.

Default No light

I was able to speak with my mechanic and he thought the chain might have “hiccuped” or possibly a dirty oil screen. Said might have already corrected itself but was enough to set off engine light. The Lexus dealer double checked the codes and thought close to the same thing. They reset the code for me and said see if comes back on. I put about 500 miles on it since then and still no light so hopefully I’m good. It was still a scary ride back home to Pennsylvania from Buffalo. I love a car that fixes itself
