Hi Guys,Noticed today that my nearside wing mirror isn't fully dipping when I put the car into reverse, it moves very slightly but not as normal.. The mirror seems to be functioning properly when I move the mirror switch to 'L' and use the directional toggle switch, but not when the car is put in reverse.
To have both mirrors dip down when in reverse, the switch needs to be in either all the way to the left or right, if you leave the switch in the center it won't dip down in reverse.
Yeh I know that Felix. AS I said the mirror dips slightly whereas the offside mirror dips as it always has...
He was just trying to help you out.......and your mirror motor is busted you need a brand new oem mirror or replace the mirror motor, easier to just buy an mirror assembly.
...and I appreciate the help, but my original post mentioned the fact that the mirror works normally when in the left position (RHD Car) but not when put in reverse, so the motor still works but there is a problem with it dipping when in reverse. I discovered not long after buying the car 22 months ago that the mirrors would only dip in reverse gear when not in the neutral position. Someone has suggested that I remove the mirror and give the inside workings a right good clean and treat with loads of WD40 - I just wanted to know if any of my North American fellow owners had experienced the same problem. I meant absolutely no offence whatsoever to Felix.
Try adjusting the mirror to your liking while in reverse.
Once set, go back to park.
When you shift into reverse again, it should be on your new setting.
