Side Mirrors
My side mirrors keep aiming high. I think they may be overcompensating for flicking down while in reverse. I imagine they need some nice white Toyota silicon grease in there, in the up and down gears. How to I get in there, please? (Old Hands--I searched posts and threads for "mirror," and got nothing. Am I searching archives incorrectly?)
The mirror just pulls out. There is a You tube video that shows how to remove the mirror and reinstall. There are wires attached to the back for the heating so don't be a bull in a china cabinet with it upon removal

There are a few threads about the side view mirror repairs, including one that shows the mirror breakdown. Be careful when attempting to pull the mirror out, at least one member has broken his mirror attempting that.
Does the mirror seem to move okay when you do it with the switch, as in no hesitating or jerking?

My mirror had started doing this recently also. It got to where the passenger side mirror would wind up higher than normal after backing up. I discovered it was moving kind of jerky on the way tilting down. So I tilted it down, sprayed some WD40 down toward the center of the back behind the mirror. Used the motor to move it fully up and down a few times. Then repeated. Then I followed up with some lubricant (I think white lithium). Now it works better than my driver's side. So I need to go back and do the driver's side. (This is a technique that I picked up from texsexlex.)
