What’s a typical repair cost for an ignition coil replacement, an 04 RX330? Might as well replace all 3 in the back while at it? Then you have 2 spares to possibly use.
Yep. My mechanic replaced the 3 back coils which replacing 6 spark plugs, along with value cover / manifold gaskets, power steering fluid and oil/filter change at 130K miles. Labor charge was $500 and I suppled all parts (OEM).
You can get them from lexspartsnow.com. I have ordered other stuff from them before and they are legit.
I ordered mine from ebay.com (reputatable sellers only) way ahead of time when I see deals. I was able to get them at $60 each average.
If anyone can remove the upper intake and replace their own plugs with success they will never regret it because it will save big money.
It will take longer the first time(2-3 hrs) but I can remove the upper intake manifold get to my rear plugs, fuel injectors, coils, etc in 30 mins or less every time.
My Secret- I never reinstall the large bolt that is on the bracket behind the manifold because the manifold is supported well by the large bolt on the throttlebody and this lets me get to my back plugs in under 30 mins when I need to bet back there for any reason and have been running like that for 4 years no problem.
Tip: the worst part of the job is the bolt behind the manifold that is very difficult to get to. An extended reach wrench like a Mountain 12x14 on ebay can work good. If anyone can get this bolt out first(before starting the job) then you will know you can finish the job. The space is tight and the wipers and wiper cowling will need to be removed to get the manifold out. The trick to getting the manifold out is to push it in towards the firewall manifold bracket and lift up(once all bolts removed). There is no need to completely remove the bracket behind the manifold or go under the car for any reason. I always tape the lower intake ports and holes so nothing falls in the engine.

I may just bring it to my trusted mechanic who has a shop. I need to drop by and talk to the owner this weekend maybe. I will have the 3 rear Ignition coil when I get this repaired!
My local mechanic did the repair for the P0305 and with it replaced the other 2 good ignition coils. Plus he recommended replacing the Valve Cover Gasket, it was leaking. Total cost $450 plus $200 on parts, total $650.00 not bad. The 330 is back! I do have 2 good Ignition Coils for spare. Plus I hope I do not smell that burned oil (coming from the leak on the valve cover gasket leak. RX330 has 129,000 miles.

$450 labor is not bad. $200 only on parts is great. I wonder if your mechanic uses aftermarket coils instead of OEM.
