Going down a steep mountain requires a combination of gears and brakes. There were some areas where I was in 2nd gear and I had to use the brakes to keep the rpms under 6K. When you use the engine for braking, it will use more oil, so every day mountain driving requires frequent checking of the oil level.
When using the engine to slow the car down, oil is "sucked" past the piston rings because of high vacuum in the cylinders. This happens because you have your foot off of the gas pedal, which means the throttle valve is closed. When the piston goes down on the intake stroke, it can't draw in any air/fuel mixture which is the cause of the high vacuum. As the engine gets more miles on it, the more wear and tear is on the engine piston rings and cylinder wall, the more oil will be sucked up. It is not going to be large amounts of oil, but if you constantly use the engine for braking every day, you will see the oil level go down over time.

Many thanks to all of you for your advice and valuable information. Yes i came down of the hill using lower gear shifting between 1 & 2 with less braking. It took me almost 45 minutes from a deep hill with 35KM
