Default iPod Integration

Hello -

Does anyone know if there is there is a 3rd party iPod integration option (either via USB connection or Bluetooth......I'm open to either one), that would allow me to use the factory NAV display to show the audio information (song title, artist name, etc.....) ? I could not seem to find anything that would allow this.......perhaps it doesn't exist (which would surprise me a bit).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

there's about 40,000 topics on this, but Grom is one..

There are many cheaper alternatives that works just as well...

if you can see the radio info in the NAV screen now, you'll see it when u get the ipod connection..

Thanks for the reply, but I actually purchased the GROM TOYNI4 and it does not show the song title, artist on the NAV display (unless I'm doing something incorrectly). It simply looks like we are playing a CD from a changer......as I believe this unit simulates a changer for the integration. We can control the songs through the steering wheel controls, but that's about it. I would really like to have the music data shown in the NAV display if possible. Has anyone done this ?

I just put a GROM IPD4 on my 2005 RX330 with Nav. Although my Nav doesn't show any radio info, the radio itself will display the music data from the GROM IPD4 if yo u hit the "text" button until the right function is enabled.

I think if you wanted it to show on the radio you may need to go with a GROM VLine which would take over the Nav system and allow for integrated bluetooth and USB.

Looks like the firmware suggestion might be the answer. I contacted GROM, and they told me to download the specific firmware for Toyota/Lexus (which I did). I will try the upgrade tonight......stay tuned.

FYI, 2005 RX has the Gen 4 nav which has limited capabilities. The Grom is using cd changer emulation with gen 4 nav. Later RX with the Gen 5 nav use MP3 emulation which gets better song info on the screen.

Now I'm regretting the Nav on my '05 compared to your '07. I'll be keeping my eye out for a used Vline as my Nav is useless to me.

Hello All -

Just a quick update; I download the Toyota/Lexus Firmware from GROM and it looks like it's working well ! It's not perfect, but in the audio controls area on the NAV screen, you can drill down a little bit and see the artist, song, album, etc......

Overall, pretty happy with the result.

Def be on the lookout once they announce the new one. Heck, I might even sell you mine if I can get a VL2 for the right price.

The vline really has improved my driving experience immeasurably and recommend it if you are a little tech savvy and have the patience for the few quirks that are still around.
