Default Loud Engine Knocking

Just purchased an 08 a month ago. I have been hearing this terrible engine knocking sound. Sounds like it’s on the passenger side. However it only does it when I’m slowing down or at a low speed. I do not hear it in idle. I’ve read a ton of threads and stuff about brakes etc. This sounds like an engine with no oil in it. I’m wondering if the oil pickup thing in the pan is not working. I’ve read about valves breaking and falling into pistons. Piston slap etc. It has brand new oil and I’ve only used premium gas since I bought it. I’m taking a trip Friday and I’m worried it’s gonna blow up or something.

Does it only do it when it’s cold and you start it up in the morning?

Nope, does it all the time when it’s warmed up. I only hear it when I’m slowing down. I did rev my engine in Park today and I could hear a faint knock but it’s pretty significant normally when slowing down

Purchased a month ago? When you purchased the RX, there was no knocking? You changed the oil after the purchase?
Did the previous owner tell you something about the knocking issue & sold it to you at a reasonable price to compensate a repair?
If not, the knocking may have been concealed with an additive, I would return the vehicle to the previous owner or compensate you for the repair if the issue is serious once checked out properly.

Yes I purchased it from a dealer. Got a warranty on it though.

I'd bring it back immediately if thats the case, and hopefully they provide you with a loaner. Could be something minor, but why wait.

Agree with the above, read the fine print of the warranty with a magnify glass if you intend to take that road trip....
hopefully everything is covered, towing, repairs & more.
