Default RX330 USB Memory Unit and A Question

Anyone else get the RX330 USB Memory key unit from the Lexus.com web site? I received mine in the mail the other day, after signing up for it a couple of months ago. It shows some of the ad that they're showing on TV, where the other company executives are fretting over all of its advanced features. When the ad has finished it then turns into a sort of electronic brouchure where you can point and click to learn about the vehicle's various features, and see/compare the color choices for the interior and exterior. Doesn't break any new ground really, but it's free just for signing up.

The question I have is that on the enclosed instruction card it does say that when you're done viewing it you can erase the preloaded files and use the unit's 16 MB memory for other things, such as transferring files between computers. The only problem is that when you try to delete the 3 included files an error message pops up, saying that it can't proceed because the files are "write protected" and you need to remove the write protection first. Anyone know how to do this?

you have to move the switch on the side of the unit to "ON", and make sure the program isn't running when you try to move/delete it from the USB drive.

They must have taken it off then, because it was there as a promotional item just before the official launch. I signed up for it, and it showed up in the mail about 2 months later.

it's free. on one of the initial launch 330 mini-brochures (it was olive green) that lexus sent, there was a tear-out postcard for ordering additional information, either by paper brochure or by USB memory unit.

the thing arrived about a week ago, and it's a nice free "gift" , but the material on it is the same as what's on the lexus.com site, but with a little more interactive-ness to it.

the unit is very small and handy, but i still haven't been able to put it on a key chain. the loop in the plastic is too small to fit any normal split key ring.

I got one last week. It's just a .swf file. A 13mb flash presentation in re the RX 330.

The glue that held it to the cardboard postcard wont come completely off the unit.

The key chain is an issue and...wha?..16mb...Not even enough for a decent .PPT.

Yeah, I got my USB jobber about a week ago, I immediately moved the contents to my hard drive and started using the USB thumb drive for other stuff. It is a great FREE gift. I got something in the mail about it a few months ago also. As soon as I saw it was a USB drive I figured there had to be some way to delete the contents and use it for MP3's or whatever. Too bad it is only 16 MB. Still great device to keep in your pocket.

I got all the glue off by using a little WD40 on a rag, came right off.

Yeah, I got one. But, it don't work. I went to the www.usbkeydrive.com/Drivers/Win98Driver.exe to download a driver and the web site don't exist. I called the 1-800-USA-LEXUS Opt 4 and no one could help me. I found the www.USBKEY.BIZ site that sells these and downloaded their drivers and that didn't work. Then tried www.usbkeydrive.biz and found almost the same thing and they didnt' work.

Even a freebee is useless if it don't work. Anyone want this one? Come and get it for free.

Ron, are you sure the site doesn't exist? I just loaded it and it prepared to download the file. I didn't proceed as I don't need it on my XP machine, but you may want to try it again. The info on the key isn't that great really but you may want to get the driver so you can use the unit to transfer files.

Talk about weird happenings. I have tried this over a dozen times in the past week and nothing would come up. It came up now and downloaded the Win98SE version. It still won't work but at least I got a download. I have Win98 but not sure it is SE... I'll keep trying maybe I will find the solution. Hate having something that doesn't work. Bugs me..

Thanks JRB...

I had the same problem and never could get it to work with WIN98. Got a new computer with Win XP and it works fine. Transferred the Lexus data to a save file and using the USB thumb drive for other things.

I don't think it likes WIN98 or lower. If anyone got it to work with WIN98 I would like to know what they did and which driver they used.
