2007 RX350 Loose Hood Release Cable
2007 RX350 Under the dash hood release latch moves easily enough, but does not unlatch the hood. If i lift up on the latch (which pulls the cable), then grab the exposed cable with some pliers and pull another 1/2-1", the hood pops open like it should. Keeping a pair of cables in the car for this, but i'm concerned the next pull is going to shear off something and require an expensive dealer hood opening.
Is there some adjustment for the cable to tighten it up? If not, is cable replacement a driveway-possible repair, or is this an involved swap out that is going to require a dealer?

Unsure if there is a adjustment for the cable, it shouldn't be too difficult to replace the cable or related parts if needed be....
here is a diagram of what is involved .From #10 - #19 are all the possible parts related to the hood release. # 19 is a spring which possibly weakened.

Thanks for the info.
I ended up pulling the loose cable forward through the hood latch until it was tight. Then i crimped a new stop onto the cable and seated that where the original stop had been. A liberal oiling of the cable where I could get it into the cable sheath, and the latch release works great.

I could not get that stop out of that handle area for nothing, either.
I clamped a new stop at the hood latch end (the other end of the cable). Took a few cover parts off to get to it, (including the grille i think), but nothing difficult. It all went back on easily enough.
